Yes, I can totally agree on that. You will always need active
moderation. Or you will get spam, advertisments, robots and other
bad stuff.<br>
If you have a board with moreand more users you will also have to
reply to more and more private messages, e-mails and requests you
get.<br>
And this may take a lot of time.<br>

We also fear that automated translations are not sufficient
for this type of discussion, but we may have a bit of funding
for summarized translation as necessary. Since Spanish is now
the second most spoken language, we feel like it would be
appropriate for this type of discussion in that language to
serve this large population. English is a good catch all for
the scientific community, but I can imagine that access to
German and Chinese discussions on the theme would be useful.
We are lucky that our colleagues from India speak English! We
will be working on this theme further if anyone has any ideas
or is interested in participating. <br>

<p>No, there's no cross-posting between my german and
english language boards. They are each independent boards.
Some years ago I also have set up a French and Hungarian
language board with help of users speaking those
languages, but there was almost no traffic. So I decided
to just keep the german and english language boards only.<br>
<br>
It's quite ease to set up a group or discussion board but
it's permanent work to keep it running if it's still small
and not well known. Since I started my site in 2004 it
now will have about 1.600.000 page views generated by
about 165.000 visits (this year 2010, robots are not
counted).<br>
So now it's quite well known in Germany and there are new
postings almost every day. But it will take a lot of
additional work to get some more action in the other areas
and english language boards.<br>
<br>
If I would translate each posting manually => this
would be too much work (I also have a "normal" job to do
at a biogas company :) ).<br>
And I think automated translation and cross-posting
between my boards would not be a very good idea, since the
quality of translations may be very wrong and also the
topic interests between the english language board users
and german board users are quite different. <br>
