I am trying to discover the origins of this technology. From Paul Harris's useful website (<a href="http://www.adelaide.edu.au/biogas/history" target="_blank"><span style='color:#33464C'>http://www.adelaide.edu.au/biogas/history</span></a>), I was able to find out that the earliest known examples of its construction were in Otago, New Zealand, and at the Matunga Leper Home near Mumbai, India.
