One of my MSc students did some studies on anaerobic digestion of banana peels. As it was done in the UK, we used ripe peels. The gas production result was 0.32 cu.m/kg VS added, which was slightly lower than that quoted for mixed food wastes in the literature. The methane content was 59%. The removal of total solids and volatile solids was very high (93.8% and 93.4%). <br>
