Nolbert is correct about the process we are developing in Uganda
to have a location making 12,000 to 15,000 flat-pack sets of
pieces per year using manual labor with appropriate tools . But
he left out the part that the production site can then be
replicated as many times as is needed to satisfy the market. And
those sites can be placed appropriately around the country.
Eight (8) sites would produce over 100,000 stoves per year. And
what we will do in Uganda we will facilitate in other countries
with appropriately cooperating local persons and businesses there,
and with appropriate variations of TLUDs to match the local
markets. <br>

Our plans should have evaluated results in Uganda by the time we
all meet in Cambodia for the GACC Forum in March 2013. And the
comments about low-cost natural draft TLUDs should include this
statement: "TLUDs are being mass produced". <br>

setting up a factory in Uganda which is basically producing parts of

making different of this stove, we will in the end be producing 50
stoves per day, that's 15,600 each year! All hand-made using basic
tools!!!
At Awamu Biomass Energy Ltd (ABE), we are aware that this is still
somewhat a drop in the ocean, but IF things can get going, then the
trick would be to increase the personnel and this will increase the
output.
Job created - YES. Stoves mass produced - YES.

capacity development purposes) of starting from the site and working outward
/outsourcing where needed.
So the cell phone is not obviously going to be manufactured in Darfur but
can components or packaging be done there? Where in other words can the
value be added locally to the extent possible .. The amount you can stay
onsite varies with the technology of course: but the principle ( of
startgin local and drift outward to specialised sources, only when
necessry), is the the whole point of local capacity development.
