sure you know this book, but just in case you don't, look for:
Ing. Werner Kroll, "Der  Gasgenerator". Gössen + Berlin, 1943
I have a copy and I saw it on Ebay. It is in german language but exhaustively 
illustrated, thus very helpful even if you cannot read it.
