[Gasification] can suberin be digested by AD?

Dear Pannirselvam,
the biogas plant developed by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is
biphasic. The disadvantage of a biphasic plant is, that the easily
digestible material gets converted into carbon dioxide in the aerobic
phase. Thus, in order to digest the hard to digest components, one
loses the more easily digestible ones. The outcome is that the yield
of methane is quite low. The BARC plant is basically a waste disposal
system, which gives a bit of methane as bonus. The ARTI biogas system
serves primarily as a methane generating system, and therefore we use
only the anaerobic phase and only such feedstock that is completely
digested under anaerobic conditions. Using waste food as feedstock,
ARTI biogas plant yields about 250 to 300 g methane per kg (dry
weight) food waste.
