pete,

thank you for the note. the problem has not been getting candidates
applying. it is trying to find someone in possession of both the needed
skills, as well as a cultural fit with the organization. this is not a
typical line manager need. things are somewhat unusual around our place.
we had over 100 apps in the previous round. we got about 30 today on the
start of this round. most come from craigslist, but some propagate out from
more topic related lists and forums. we get all types. the applications
are always really interesting to read.

in general, this is a really important position for us so we're taking our
time. you are encouraged to fwd it to others who might know others who,
etc.

yes, it is really 3 or more positions, but such is the case with a startup.
in the earlier stages a single individual usually plays many roles that
will later be divided into multiple positions. and things are usually
overwhelming as a result. this is why only the young and foolish attempt
startups. the grey hairs know better and wait until things have settled
down a bit . . . ;-)

do stop by if you can. we learn a tremendous amount from those who have
come before us and have experience in these areas. there will be another
workshop some time this fall.
