[Gasification] Running a vehicle on wood gas

Hi All, I spent a year living in a caravan as I drove around Australia, soon after I read of someone who had done the same using a gasifier mounted on a trailer to run his vehicle, using wood gathered along the road side. If there were a compact gasifer design which could be mounted on a tow bar or a bracket on a caravan, it could be real money spinner if the transport authorities allowed its use. But how small can a gasifer be made that while being able to supply enough gas to run a 3 litre engine?

Very good point!

Gents,
Another point of interest is that pellets offer around four times more energy than chips for a given volume.
