Dear Tom,
I have developed a charring kiln based on the TLUD principle. It works
quite well with light biomass like dried leaves, twigs, coconut husk,
dried sugarcane leaves etc. About 50 of these kilns are already in use
all over India and a few even in Germany. I haven't tested it on wheat
straw because wheat is not grown in our area, but I think it should
work. You can see the photograph on our web site www.samuchit.com
