As far as I know the Waterwide gasifier used in Stephen Temple's
thesis on tea drying was a genuine one but I don't remember the date
as by 2003 Stephen had returned to the family farm in Norfolk,
England. He has been a lifelong advocate of renewable energy and the
biodigester on the farm currently feeds 100kW into the grid as well as
providing heating for the farm and dairy.
