[Gasification] Woodgas figures from Germany (end of 2016)

Hi Werner,

as a German woodgas specialist it is not so difficult for me to provide you with some of the requested figures:

Attached I send you some statistics which are based on December 2016 data. I do not have more updated data right now, but you may assume that the capacity increase in Germany is very very low since feed-in tariffs are not good enough these years.

The German manufacturers do have a export share of above 75%.

Spanner, who is building plants in the 50 kWe range, have produced more than 750 plants up to now. I would assume a total of > 800 plants by the end of 2018.

Development of installed capacity of woodgas plants over the years in Germany:

Installed capacity in Germany (end of 2016) is about 41 MWe. Total number of grid connected plants: 440

Grid connected woodgas plants in Germany:

This gives you an idea about the players and their number of installation and kWe-size. But this is only for Germany (“Deutschland”).

No. 22 „Xyloenergy“ is a 300 kWe plant. I was working on this installation a few years…

This table shows, that Burkhardt has got installed the highest total capacity. The Burkhardt plants are running very good. I personally have good relation to an owner of 10 Burkhardt plants. But: they run only on sawdust pellets, which is quite expensive fuel.

Spanner, by the way, has quite some customers that realize 8200 h/a or even more.

This table shows the total installed capacity of the German manufacturers. You see that 50% is installed in Germany and the rest is installed worldwide.

All this data is from FEE e.V. which is a small NGO for renewable energies with a gasification work group. So this data might not be 100% correct, but it is the best you can get. 

This is all about small scale wood gasification. There is just 2 small sewage sludge gasification plants among them. It is not about industrial waste gasification or so (which is by the way not so common in Germany).

Hello Björn,

es ist summer on this half of the earth and everyone is busy doing something outside. I as an example bucked up all my firewood for the gasification boiler and stored dry  for the coming winter.

Yesterday I had the first morning with 0°C.

Björn zou are from good ol Germany, where can I find how much electricity in MW per year is produced by wood gasification in Germany?
