Tom, My understanding is that US AID hasn't the money to propagate the technology, but this comes from Ghana, Cote d' Ivorie, and Nigeria. Not sure about other areas. US AID which is part of the State Department which has had it's staff cut significantly, has fewer employees than the military bands. I was working with a group in Ghana and had contact with the US AID officer in the Ghana Embassy, but he didn't respond when the government shutdown occurred, and not heard from since.
Sincerely,

Subject: [Gasification] Gasification for Power Generation in SubSaharan Africa
What is the current status of gasification for power generation in Sub Saharan Africa? Where systems are operating in the 40-150 kWe range, 150-500kWe, 500kWe-20 MWe? Are gasification systems participating in current programs like Power Africa? What fuels are begin used? Are the gasification systems reliable? Thanks
Tom
