Prospects for commercial biomass gasification in Sub-Saharan Africa

The Bioenergy for Sustainable local energy services and Energy Access in
Africa (BSEAA) programme, a constituent programme of the UK Department for
International Development's (DFID) Transforming Energy Access (TEA)
programme invites you to a webinar on "Prospects for commercial biomass
gasification in Sub-Saharan Africa" to be held on 03rd February, 2021 from
11.00 am-12 pm (GMT).

About the BSEAA programme:
BSEAA is a two year research programme with an objective to identify and
support the development of innovative, commercial bioenergy pathways and
technologies that will accelerate the successful production and use of
bioenergy in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA). BSEAA is targeted at bioenergy
entrepreneurs (particularly technology and project developers), investors
and policymakers, to catalyse action for bioenergy development in SSA.

About the webinar:
Researchers led by NIRAS-LTS set out to identify the optimal conditions
under which biomass gasification can offer a competitive solution for heat
and power generation, to analyse experiences with gasification in various
regions of the world and to draw conclusions on the commercial potential for
gasification in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). This webinar aims to share key
findings and insights generated from this research to guide practitioners,
policy makers and investors make informed decisions regarding implementation
of biomass based gasification in SSA.

Harrie Knoef

Gasification Expert @Knoef Consultancy

Mr. Harrie Knoef has over 35 years' experience in the field of biomass
gasification, starting his career at the Biomass Technology Group (BTG). He
has been working worldwide on biomass gasification, in several South-East
Asian countries (including a two-year term in Indonesia), Malaysia,
Thailand, South Korea, India, Sri Lanka, several African countries and in
Central America. Besides many articles, he has written two Handbooks on
biomass gasification in which he presents an overview of biomass
gasification technologies and their suppliers. This thorough and in depth
practical experience has enabled Harrie to develop a unique understanding of
the prospects and challenges in this renewable energy sector.
