For large commercial operations there are exhaust gas heat exchangers
and there are heat pumps and heat engines that can use that heat to
perform work like generating electricity or cooling, but the equipment
is costly and not applicable on a small scale.

After watching for commercialization of Glauber's salt for decades, I learned that it is intrinsically problematic. However, I also found out that wax also has a high heat of fusion at a useful temperature. That temperature can even be easily raised with steric acid. Wax has poor heat transmission, though, so the best way to handle it would probably be in an array of light tubing in a water bath. The exhaust heat can be readily extracted by a water muffler.

The pump should be a free-piston design, able to produce some electricity, and use its waste heat to pre-warm the heat source supply. As usual, I'd need a business partner to do anything about it.
