I did a project without a final baghouse and was amazed at how much the 1% loss of efficiency really amounted to! (it’s all super-fines). But getting the first 98-or-99% collected takes a huge load off the baghouse. A critical part of the cyclone is a long-ish downcomer that allow the material to accumulate and discharge with out disrupting the vortex dynamics. Learned by experience! Also, stacked Posiflate valves in lieu of a rotary airlock.

<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">

<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">Best, Mark

<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">

<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">From:<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""> Henri Naths [mailto:c_hnaths@telusplanet.net]
Sent: Saturday, August 27, 2011 7:05 AM
To: mark@ludlow.com; Discussion of biomass pyrolysis and gasification
Subject: Re: [Gasification] Charcoal Reduction Mill

Then, a tall skinny, cyclone

Hi mark

I was wondering if you or some one on the list has the math for the efficiency ratios for cyclones ie.
