<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>Hi Arnt, Tom T. and
Colleagues,</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG></STRONG></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>Thanks for the responses to my questions
regarding this companies <U><FONT
color=#0000ff>http://www.agtgasification.com/eng/agt_srl.htm</FONT></U><FONT
face=Arial color=#000000 size=2 FAMILY="SANSSERIF"> </FONT><BR>presentation
of it's gasification technology.</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>>> Dear
Group,>> I do not worry about this group
going very far. <BR>> <BR>> ..wrong, this _is_ our problem, _they_ _fail_,
and _they_ _burn_<BR>> investors, politicians, and potential industrial
partners who<BR>> _experience_ failures "in gasification", rather than on
incompetent <BR>> attemps at R&D, or worse, e.g. investor fraud or white
washing of <BR>> dope etc money.<BR></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>We certainly do have some interesting
informed lurkers watching this list, who privately have told me from their own
enquiries for larger systems, that AGT are happy to demonstrate their systems
working in Italy. The 250kWe system is to be replaced by a 500kWe model, for
which they say, have an order to supply 30 units to the Dominican
Republic.</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT></STRONG> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial size=2>As their technology has emphasis on gas
cleaning, rather than tar free gas making, one might hope that those who get to
use these in that country, will also be given the infrastructural support to
maintain the water cleaning system, and prevent any release of toxic materials
to the ground water. It is also true that black liquors can be recycled into
other useful products in a rural situation devoid of expensive commercially
produced chemicals, influencing the choice of gasification
technology.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>While Arnt points out the down side of
failed projects, I know of previous Italian Government Aid to developing
countries, included gasifiers, but not monetary Aid. The recipient
country didn't want them, and substantial "influence" was used to get just one
installed at a Sawmill. Gasification can fail for all the wrong reasons, and we
need to keep up with all manufactures progress, or regression, as to how they
enter the markets with the technology approach they offer.</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG></STRONG></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>There are "horses for courses", so we
should not be critical of any system, unless it is presented completely out of
focus with it's capability. In this respect, what are the intended users of
these gasifiers (in fact from any manufacturer) expecting resulting from there
installation? We don't know how desperate potential users may be, so
it should be important to clearly present information that may be only
specific for that gasification system in their location. It could mean success
or failure to the user(:-)</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG></STRONG></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>So, the next questions. Who can answer for
the Dominican Republics implementation programme for gasifiers? Is this a
Government implementation programme, or a private commercially driven need
for gasified energy from forestry or agricultural waste? It would also be
interesting to learn if AGT have previously supplied systems for testing
before this large order </STRONG></FONT><STRONG><FONT face=Arial size=2>was
placed.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT></STRONG> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial size=2>I appreciated the private communications,
and respect that some cannot offer public comment, but I would encourage more
lurkers to participate, either through me or one of your other confidents to
share obscure information on all things gasification.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
