Just wondering if everyone means the same thing by a "cord" of wood.
Around here (N. Wisconsin), a pulpwood, or full, cord is 4'x4'x8'. But
a firewood, or face, cord is 16"x4'x8' (or a third of a full cord).
Pulpwood cords are usually sold by the semi truck load, while face cords
can be purchased in any amount and usually come already split.
Depending on the severity of the winter and what species are available
in our woodlot any particular year, we burn 5 full cords or so to heat a
2000 square foot, rather well-insulated house.
