[Greenbuilding] Exterior insulation retrofit

John,
When you say "cedar shingles worry me because they store a tremendous amount of rainwater" is your concern weight or wetness or both?  Most suppliers offer factory applied "preservative" which I assume might help in both regards.  Have you had any experience with "preserved" wood shingles?
