Bobbi,

An after thought; if you get significant rainfall there, you might want
to go with the blowing fiberglass (they call it "Spider Blown" here) for
the exterior walls. I prefer cellulose but if there is a chance of
water getting into the wall, the cellulose can store a lot, with the
first warning often being rot of the framing or wood siding. Under the
aluminum, that could get extensive before you realized.

You probably can't (don't want to) work with that yourself. Nasty
stuff, imho. In that case, really make sure the contractor gives a
thoroughly specific contract - and then meets it.

Given the age of the house is would still be a full plaster interior, at
least in this area. A good crew should be able to unlock the aluminum
siding (what's minor damage? You are planning to remove it anyway-
eventually) but you'll probably have to fight to get them to also lift
the plank siding rather than drilling and plugging it. Who wants to
spend that kind of money on a polka-dotted house??

A good crew can drill and tube through the interior wall and patch their
holes invisibly. On an old hose the baseboard may be tall enough to
hide the holes, if it's pulled and restored.

Sorry, now it's insomnia...
