Was just reading through some various documents.. Stumbled across Joe
Lstiburek's barn rewrap, and had a question for those who might be in
the know.

He switched from a poly air/vapour barrier, to using Grace Ice&water..
But looking into that from Grace, I find this..

http://www.na.graceconstruction.com/custom/underlayments/downloads/UL-232I.pdf

The end note states they are not intended to be used in above grade walls.

Looking into it further, doesnt appear to be approved via CCMC for
anything other than roofs.
This applies to several other modern'ish products, sheet applied
membranes, fluid applied, and even most of the fancier tapes
(SIGA/proclima/3m8067)..

For those of you in the canadian building industry, what has been your
experience in attempting to use products that haven't been approved by
CCMC in new construction.

I find myself pulling back on my designs as it seems like most of the
stuff going on down in the states isnt even remotely approved up here.

If I am talking out my ass, feel free to school me.

Cheers,

John
