[Greenbuilding] Perceptions of Nature & Reality

Losing weight is ultimately about heart health so an argument could easily
be made that measuring weight is perhaps, like the dollar as a measure of
energy efficiency, the wrong unit to be using.

In some cultures, one's expanding girth is viewed as a sign of monetary
good health -- the bigger the better.

I would venture that heartbeats per minute might be a better measure of
health.

ie Have the overweight person put on a heart rate monitor and have them
note their heart rate at rest.

Then have them hop onto a bicycle and pedal up a hill, with a change in
altitude of say, 30 to 50 metres and if they are still alive at the top of
the hill, to note their heart rate.

After they catch their breath and are done turning the air blue with rude
expletives, I would wager that the first words out of their mouth will be
about what they feel is necessary in terms of lifestyle changes to improve
their health.
