Washington State Department of Ecology has been doing a pilot study on the types of toxins that can enter stormwater systems from different types of roofing materials.  Copper and Zinc are studied pretty carefully, since we know that the metals contribute to greater mortality in the endangered and economically important fish in the Pacific NW.
