I think the point of complete combustion (or as near to it as one can
manage in a real world stove in which a hot/very hot fire is a regular
thing, and the firewood is dry) is that you aren't sending much in the way
of particulates (creosote precursors) up the stove pipe.  Cooling the flue
gas--a la rocket mass heaters--will have effects on your stove pipe:
condensation, corrosion, but it is my understanding that creosote formation
isn't a chief concern. I hope anyone who understands this better will set
me straight.
