It¹s time for a break of good news:
* onshoring back to US production
* energy performance
* better product chemistry and considerably better GHG potency
The insulation in Whirlpool¹s U.S.-made fridges and freezers now will
contain Honeywell¹s Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA). The blowing agent
provides expansion abilities for the foam insulation, creating a better
insulation within the appliance. Honeywell¹s LBA has a global warming
potential that is almost 100 percent lower than the most common agent,
245fa.
All of Whirlpool¹s U.S.-based manufacturing plants will be using Honeywell¹s
LBA in refrigerators and freezers by the end of 2014. A press release by the
company

impact as removing 400,000 cars from the country¹s highways. Whirlpool is
the first company to use the foam blowing agent in home appliances.
Approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, Honeywell¹s Solstice LBA is
non-ozone depleting and is listed under the EPA¹s Significant New
Alternatives Policy (SNAP).
³We are pleased to see Whirlpool at the vanguard of the global effort to
combat climate change while retaining the high performance that consumers
have come to expect from their products,² says Andreas Kramvis, president
and CEO of Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies.
