I read the web site copy on this product, and it just seems like they took
the potential available corn stover numbers from US Dept of Ag. and
extrapolated from there. But those numbers are unrealistically high.
There's a lot of variation with the use of stover and with cover crops and
nutrient replenishment, but know that in the Dakotas, a lot of stover is
left on the field to prevent wind erosion, and I'm pretty sure someone else
mentioned that already.

My grandfather was a mechanical engineer and pretty involved with the
creation of early forms of straw-board, particle board and the stuff that
would later become OSB. It's certainly possible to make an ag-residue board
that is considerably better than what you find in the big box stores. I'm
actually sitting in an office that's completely paneled in straw-board that
was put up in the 1950's. Aside from needing some cleaning and a new coat of
walnut oil - it still looks great, and it has held up well. So, I'm
inclined to believe that it's technically possible to make a really great
corn-stover fiber board. Not sure if this particular board/web site etc has
all the answers, but it's nice to see someone take a run at it.

Cheers,
