[Greenbuilding] Paint a tar roof?

Thanks for the ideas. Around here, I only see tarps in silver, blue, or
green, but it seems like a good idea. Do you think any of these things will
keep the garage cooler?
   I don't want to put money into the garage. It is a very poor structure.
I sometimes wish for a freak tornado or something to take it out--but not
the house or anything in the garage. If I ever can afford it , I'd love to
build a new one.
