I don't know anything about this call, but the World Bank is looking for a
Latin America/Caribbean-based consultant who is an expert in green buildings
to help them toll out their new LEED-like rating system for the developing
world called EDGE. It's intended to reduce building energy use by at least
20%.

ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW

Assignment Title: 1198503 - EDGE LAC Green Building Specialist

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

IFC launched a global, holistic program to transform building practices onto
a lower carbon path, called the EDGE Green Building Transformation Program.
The EDGE Program combines advisory offerings to local regulators, outreach
to local stakeholders, technical assistance to local builders, developers
and banks, with IFCs ability to mobilize investment teams to provide green
finance both directly and through financial intermediaries.

The objective of this consultancy is to be a key focal point of the EDGE
program in LAC towards accelerating the development of the green building
market in the LAC region. Specifically, the consultant will provide
technical support for the LAC program, which includes Costa Rica, Panama,
Peru, Colombia, and Brazil, among other possible countries.

ELIGIBILITY

Position requires sound business judgment to identify the strengths and
weaknesses of projects and to provide precise evaluation of technical,
commercial, environmental and managerial issues.

The successful candidate will have a combination of the following skills and
qualifications: 

- Minimum of a Masters degree or equivalent, in Architecture, Planning /
Preservation Civil / Engineering, or related discipline,
- Minimum of eight years or more experience in building industry
(architectural, engineering or construction), applied to real sectors
(industrial, manufacturing, real estate, utilities and more) covering a
broad range of responsibilities within the industry in several of the
following areas: energy efficient building design, sustainable
master-planning, climatic design modelling (daylight, natural ventilation
and thermal comfort), building physics, certification systems (such as LEED,
BREEAM, HQE, Aqua, Casa Azul etc.) and green building codes and policies;
- A strong network of industry contacts;
- Familiarity with the latest developments in the green building sector
including energy efficient buildings, sustainable master-planning, climatic
design models (daylight, natural ventilation and thermal comfort), lifecycle
analysis of building materials, certification systems (LEED, BREEAM, etc.)
and green building codes and policies;
- Up-to-date knowledge of capital costs and operation and maintenance cost
parameters of diverse energy efficiency technologies;
- Experience in emerging economies;
- Professional architect or building services engineer with advanced degree
in environmental design of buildings;
- Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English and
Spanish;
- Significant work experience in the private sector or with private firms.

The consultant should be an individual.
