I agree for the most part. I am overly simplifying "sustainable" to mean; "can/should everyone do it?". Since there is not enough usable land for "everyone" to do what you are planning, I call the activity unsustainable by definition. Thats what I meant.

I think the idea of virgin land is a myth. Most of the forests upstate have been clear cut at least once. I also think the distinction between “Nature” and humanity is a myth. Humans and nature have been one since the beginning of time. It’s only since the Romantic period that we put Nature on a pedestal as something other than what we are. Hense the rise of Zoos, parks, and the objectification of everything from women to dolphins. Check out Timothy Morton’s book “ecology without nature”. I agree reusing decaying space is ecological. But there’s a place for relearning how to become one with nature again. You object to my idea because you have this idea of Nature as a virgin being that can only be sullied by the brute presence of man. Just like you shouldn’t use vulgar language around a lady. But I’m not a brute man out to rape the landscape for my own gratification and ego. I’m a humble part of the whole. I have just as much a right to be there as the squirrels and trees.....as long as I keep my place and be a team player. We’re in this together. Your thoughts?

GennaroGood luck. I hope you find what you are looking for.Personally, I won't participate. I can't get over the irony of using more virgin land to pursue sustainability. THAT just isnt sustainable. Plenty of already disturbed land that could be put to better use. THAT would help save the world.Just my 2 cents for today.Happy holidays.Bill
