I use Eemax electric demand heaters in a number of locations for many years. They are about the size of a cigar box,
and can be mounted right next to point of use. Another point-of-use option I have used is a small electric water heater,
2 to 5 gal. which can fit under a sink, and plug into a 110v outlet. Obviously, showers cannot be lengthy, but the one I
used has a switch, so it is easy to shut off when not needed.

I'd use it frequently (3-4x week) for about 6 mos, then occasionally thereafter. I'm leaning to tankless, and either propane or electric. (There's no ability to use solar at the site).
