[Greenbuilding] Self-Contained Solar Units

It looks like this system is using lead acid batteries. They require
maintenance, at least in the sense that they don't like being discharged
all the way, and you have to keep an eye on what is going on with the
charge/discharge cycles. The Tesla system uses lithium ion batteries, the
same as in their cars. They are actually a whole bunch of small 18650
cells, which are also used in all the power tool batteries, laptops, etc.,
and is where the R&D money is going. They are more expensive, but don't
care about being at partial charge, etc., and much more user friendly and
longer lasting.
