Hi, Lynelle—

There’s 2 inches of high density foam under the roof sheathing. It’s partly helping stiffen the rafters, as there is an ecoroof on the top surface, about 4 inches deep. It’s around R-14, which seemed adequate to avoid condensation—and, the high density foam does not transmit water vapor. So there is no vapor barrier on the batts. We run exhaust fans every day to draw in outside air, which helps ensure the humidity is low to mid-range.

We blew high-density foam on the under side of the roofing plywood, then added R-38 batts between the rafters. The other roof has a flat ceiling under it, with R-49 blown-in cellulose (not damp spray). Our general was Dave Heslam, who now works at Earth Advantage in Portland, his crew did the insulation. Hope that helps.
