Slightly overgeneralizing, there are 2 categories: clay paints and clay plasters.<BR>
For clay paints, Bioshield is the main manufacturer. They apply the same as a latex paint to drywall. They will have some texture, so a little more depth than a latex paint. They aren’t really meant to get wet so in a wet or splashable area you can protect them with wall glaze or wax finish. They breathe a little. We nickname them a poor man’s clay plaster b/c you can get some cool benefits and do cool stuff with them, just less than plasters.<BR>
<BR>
A plaster is typically troweled on. Has a lot more opportunity for finishes, combining textures and colors, and faux finishing. The biggest name is American Clay, but there are a few other names on the market now. And of course there are old school venetian and lime plaster options but those are really for the pros to apply.<BR>

It is a bit of a moot point as overall toxicity is another question. I definitely agree with the use of clay and mineral paints. The Home Hardware paint is low voc paint and regular tints. The Benjamin Moore is zero paint zero tint. I think the clay paint is worth the price and it's lovely to use, and holds up in my house with kids really well. That said, the B-M products are my number one fallback. I wish I Jason and his stuff was closer to me, as I'd love to give them a go.<BR>

I am searching for a No-VOC paint for my house. I know that Farrow and <BR>
Ball is great, but can't swing the $$ to prime and paint with it.<BR>
<BR>
I am looking at Aura and Natura, but am confused about Natura. Both <BR>
Benjamin Moore and Home Hardware sell "non-VOC" paints under this label. <BR>
I can't find any information on whether they are indeed the same paint, <BR>
or not.<BR>
Home Hardware's is much cheaper, but I don't know anything about quality <BR>
and coverage.<BR>
<BR>
Can anyone shed light on this? Or, is there a better one out there for <BR>
new walls. I'm painting on my own, so need something available to <BR>
consumers.<BR>
