Hi Bill,
Have you tried the "Water From the Sky" book by Reynolds?
It goes over the full Earthship water system from collection to
disposal -- no septic tank.

I am
a life-long fan of everything John Todd has developed!

His early experiments, of enclosed ecosystems, at Wood's Hole,
raising
algae and tilapia, right up to the more recent "Living
Machines" are all
brilliant examples of working and balancing the life forces of
decay and
renewal.

In Nova Scotia, there is a small village, on rocky, soil-less
terrain,
(like RT describes in Kanata), and their sewage treatment
plant was poor
and undeveloped. They had to start again, and do it right.
They rallied some fundraising, built a new treatment centre,
installed a
sewage lagoon, a'la John Todd, and it has become a surprise
full-time
job for the village, running paid tours of visitors through
their
stunningly beautiful sewage treatment plant. In the
challenging Maritime
climate, of Canada. (think of a tree-lessly bald, rounded
Rock, with
scatterings of moss, lichen, and blueberries.)

The change in the village water was a great consequence. The
surprise
result was that their tours have become a secondary income!
