Some time ago MS was advertising you should buy a new computer so you can use their latest OS. This
list may recall I started a petition to ask them to stop doing that.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">To answer some other posts:<br clear="none"><br clear="none">- Anti virus software is unlikely to be sufficient - this is not like Y2K. Anti-Malware software will only work if MS cooperates with those vendors. MS will not.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">- Ubuntu (and others) will allow you to dual-boot. This will let you keep your XP installation for software that you can not live without, and is not available on linux. <br clear="none"><br clear="none">I find it incredible that folks on this list (who advocate change) are so reluctant to change their own behaviour.
