<p>Lynelle,</p>
<p> Faced with the same situation, I created a chase at the bottom
of the outside walls with 2x2s, one on the floor, one above with
~4" space between. In that space I ran the wire & placed plug
boxes (wire fastened to the wall). I covered the chase with a
baseboard (cutouts for the plug boxes of course). Sort of like a
home-made wiremold. Above this "fat baseboard" I place our
baseboard hot-water radiators. <br>
I was uncertain whether the inspector would like it, but was
similarly unwilling to punch holes into my outside walls. The
inspector saw it and said nothing at all. <br>
An extra bonus, with the baseboard radiators a few inches above
the floor, they don't suck in so much dust like normal.</p>
<p> Don't know if a sketch will come through, but trying to attach
one....<br>

is no problem in the electrical code with floor outlets.
Depending on the inspector though there may be an issue as
to whether they replace the wall outlet requirement i.e.
there is a requirement for where outlets are located and
maximum spacing. I know in the NEC a floor outlet can be
included in the wall outlet count if it is no more than a
certain distance from the wall (I think it was 18``). I
don`t know the Ontario code and some inspectors are very
particular about wording and because the wording `finished
wall`is used in the canadian codes some inspectors may not
allow the substitution. It is one of those things that I
would question the inspector or local authority first.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<b>Subject:</b> [Greenbuilding] Floor electrical outlets

<p><span style="font-size:13.5pt;font-family:"Gill Sans

building" question, but the house involved is attempting to
be built green. I am using Nexcem/Durisol and would prefer
not to cut into the block for the wall outlets that fall on
the exterior walls. I'd like to install floor outlets in
place of the wall outlets. I have had conflicting
information as to whether these are code in Ontario Canada
residential construction. I've heard that the OBC does not
discuss floor outlets in residential construction, so
therefore they're not OK, but also heard that they are not
prohibited. No one has given me a specific code reference,
though.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p><span style="font-size:13.5pt;font-family:"Gill Sans

with using floor outlets in lieu of wall outlets in Ontario
or knows how this situation is treated?</span><o:p></o:p></p>
