When a current flows though a wire it creates an electromagnetic field around itself. The higher the voltage and the larger the current, the more powerful an EMF is developed. Houses are full of wires that are developing EMFs every time an electrical device is used. When using grid power, there are miles (maybe hundreds of miles) of wires carrying the electricity to your house and they are developing EMFs all the way. The service drop to your house is developing an EMF based upon how much electricity you are using. <div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Solar PV on your rooftop is generating direct current electricity and sending it to an inverter somewhere near your distribution panel, where the voltage is increased and the current made to alternate. The voltages and currents are relatively the same as if it was all coming from the grid, as it is supplying the same amount of power that you demand. As far as the locality of your house is concerned, PV is less concentrated for the most part, as all the power isn’t traveling through a single EMF generator (the service drop) to get to the distribution panel. Regarding the rest of the world, far lower EMFs are being developed because of avoiding those hundreds of miles of wires from the generating station.<br class=""><div class=""><br class=""><div class="">

They heard this from a naturopathic doctor and were pretty much convinced of it. I?ve done a casual search online for articles that would address this but there?s not much and the test results seem inconclusive. I pointed out that if they were concerned about EMFs they should consider all of the AC wiring in their home and all of the appliances, etc. An electric stove kicks out a lot of EMFs, but people tend to obsess over specific things, like smart meters, etc. <br class=""><br class="">Has anyone researched PV and EMFs? While I have met individuals convinced they can sense and are affected by fields, there isn?t much research on health effects of EMF from household or buildings energy applications. What there is can be found on the National Institute of Health web site.
