Dear AD and Crispin. and stovers
Thank you for the interesting and important scientific part of the discussion about clean cooking and household energy. But there is one thing missing naturally on this list: The opinion of the end users of clean cooking stoves and type of fuel for cooking. Metabolize molecular carbon, MJ/Kg and PM in the air may be do not have the same interest for the end user of household energy. I think they will be more interested in price of the fuel, time of cooking and soot/tar on the pot etc.
A priority list would have been of great interest for some other of us who are engaged in the problem. May be Hedon could work out a priority questionnaire for some different types of end-users
We need also another calculation than the 6 A4one from Crispin some mails ago. There is lot of new information about agriculture and forest yields pr ha and not less the video from Tanzania regarding charcoal. We need another calculation of the value of the losses in charcoal-production and transport together with the losses from the use in common charcoal stoves. How many bags of 50 kg charcoal can you carry safe on 4,20m 7.ton truck Crispin?
If there is a need of some changes regarding deforestation and household-energy some changes has to take place. It can’t be done over night when half of the population is involved in one or another way, but we have to start up somewhere, and this list is on the road..
With regards Paal W
