Dear Friends

This may be of interest to people designing stoves that produce charcoal of a certain type.

As the combustion and operation can potentially produce a wide variety of char products, one might consider activated charcoal as one of these. The stove design would of course be affected.

Regards

Crispin

Professional Analytical and Consulting Services (PACS)

PACS provides the best activated carbon test method, conference & courses for manufacturers and users of ACs

GAED Technical and Financial Advantages

The Gravimetric Adsorption Energy Distribution (GAED) test has saved money and provided the best technical information for many PACS clients.

GAED has helped municipal drinking water plants select the activated carbon which lasts longer. GAED helped to determine which filters need to be replaced and which still had working capacity.

GAED helped point-of-use suppliers select the best carbon and justify equivalency for switching suppliers. GAED has many other applications. PACS provides a 2-day short course covering GAED testing services.

Go to www.wcponline.com <http://lists.pacslabs.com/lt.php?id=Kk1UCwJTAg8ESA0OAB0BCFZaVwI%3D> and type Nowicki in the search box for some articles written on the GAED test method. GAED's help in determining longer lasting media and monitoring working filters to determine best replacement time and it solves many other activated carbon issues.

GAED Short Course and Relevant Testing Method Services

Henry Nowicki at PACS Laboratoies provides 2-day short course on GAED and other subjects titled "Activated Carbon Adsorption: Principles, Practices and Opportunities <http://lists.pacslabs.com/lt.php?id=Kk1UCwJTAg8DSA0OAB0BCFZaVwI%3D> ." PACS provides GAED testing services and short courses to understand the data.

The GAED heterogeneous adsorption model started by M. Polanyi and it has been modernized in recent time by M. Manes and M. Greenbank and others.

GAED provides adsorption space volume as a function of adsorption energy for both aqueous- and vapor activated carbon applications. It provides: isotherms over seven orders of adsorbate concentrations, cumulative and differential pore volume distributions, PSD, BET surface area, trace and mid-capacity numbers and more. GAED is useful for other physical adsorbents than AC.

Call-for-Papers and Vendors
2012 International Activated Carbon Conferences
and Activated Carbon School

PACS will host the 28th and 29th International Activated Carbon Conference (IACC) <http://lists.pacslabs.com/lt.php?id=Kk1UCwJTAg8CSA0OAB0BCFZaVwI%3D> in Orlando FL March 22-23, 2012 and Pittsburgh PA October 4-5, 2012. You are invited to contribute to the technical program and take courses in the Activated Carbon School. You can take courses without conference attendance. You can send marketing sheets for the bound Conference Proceedings about your firm without Conference attendance.

You can send one page abstracts to Henry at pacslabs.com for oral, poster, and abstract only presentations.

Every October near Pittsburgh PA activated carbon experts to beginners share information to grow the size, quality, and new applications for the activated carbon industry through the International Activated Carbon Conference. Optional carbon courses are provided to accelerate individual knowledge on activated carbons.
