There is a good explanation of Craik instability in thin films that is a
good guide for those developing wax powered stoves (or anything else that is
a solid at room temperatures).

SASOL held a competition about a decade ago but nothing has hit the market
yet. They seem to hold competitions that seek novel technologies they might
bring to market. You could consider them as a potential private sector
product developer.
