Just a quick report after the first day, the emphasis is on biochar in soils, rightly so IMO. There is some scepticism about stoves and a lot of misunderstanding. The Anila is shown on a poster session modified with a rocket side feed but the term tlud is bundled in with it and unfortunately the uncontrolability of the anila is assoiciated with tlud, which is quite predictable and constant in its burning. The chap who was distribting anilas has stopped becuase they were not well accepted in India.

There is an increasing agreement on the need to produce char to a specification to properly relate the effects in growing situations, there was also a warning about the poor replicability of scaling up from pot tirals to filed scale. In order to produce a consistant known specificationchar the UKBRC unit has fabricated a simple elecrically heated pyrolyser with an after burner for offgas able to produce 10s of kg of biochar daily.

This has largelu been made possible by ongoing donations by a couple, Mr. and Mrs Moss, he a retired IBM exective, who had become aware of climate change from two consecutive visist to Scotts Cabin in the artic and noticed the changes from thaw.
