Dear Darren
Good to hear from you after so long.
>Burning the chip was however providing a much higher heat output than I
require. I'm not sure how best to try to reduce this output and keep the
stove burning efficiently.
Close some of the primary air. The burn rate is dominated by the primary air
supply. The amount of air you need is surprisingly small. If things are not
leaky, you should be able to control the burn rate simply by closing the
hole(s) providing primary air. Is it entering under the upper part of the
grate (near you)?
The pulsing you mentioned is probably bridging as you describe, but not for
sure. You may need to spy on it for a while to find out.
>From the sound of it your cube are not burning at a constant rate because
the grate is not tilted enough to feed the wood by itself.
You mentioned at some time that you might try wood cut to fit crossways in
the hopper. Is this a viable loading patter? Super dry wood usually burns
far too quickly anyway. How about getting some normal wood and see what
happens.

Crispin
