Dear Friends

This is the beast: about 18 feet tall to where the chimney passes through
the roof. The glass door on the bottom right is the hole through which the
picture of the chain grate was taken. The cyclone pulls particulate matter
out of the final gas stream. The blue pipes are the water feed through the
heat exchanger.

The chain grate combustion produces gas which is fed secondary air through
that brown rectangular box under the blue pipes. The hot gases travel to
the far end then return along the top to the big duct at the top thence into
the cyclone.

The secondary air is fed into both ends of the combustion chamber and has
variable speed fans (left side) to maintain a desired excess air level. The
other end, where the fuel goes in, is much more complicated. Alex said the
stainless steel on the exhaust is to replace the rusted out mild steel that
had too much accumulated moisture on it.

Regards

Crispin
