Dear DR. TLUD and stovers.
Early 1990ties a group of energy engineers at Makerere University tested charcoal stoves for boiling 1 liter of water. One of them had a Peko Pe with a bundle of straw for comparison. The 1 liter of water came to a boil before they got the charcoal ignited with the same amount of straw which was used in the PP. You don’t need 2 A4 pages to explain how to ignite a TLUD. Just some tinder and a match on top will do. Alcohol should not be used, it is really dangerous. Kerosene will give soot on the pot. That’s my experience with my 100 reds of TLUD stoves during the last 20 years with TLUD. And with the new 2 blaze vertical TLUD-ND you will come closer to the glowing charcoal if you need it for simmering and the there is no problem with bathing, no smoke at the starting up and no smoke at the running and no smoke at ending of the flame. One blaze is giving fast cooking, the other one for simmering. You can use small amount of fuel for small cooking and more fuel heavier cooking.
