[Stoves] Recent paper on how the pot size and fueling rate affect stove performance

Further to the paper on there being very little difference in the CO emissions of those stoves with a change in power, we have tested some stoves with a very large variation in CO based on both pot size and power. Particularly variable are kerosene and ethanol gel stoves. With ethanol, most stoves are extremely simple and have pretty lousy combustion at high power. In those cases changing the pot can vary the CO emission per MJ by a factor of 3 or more.  Turning an ethanol stove from high to low might have a difference of 6:1 in the CO emission.

 

It would be interesting to hear from other testers what results are obtained when conducting efficiency and emissions tests across a variety of conditions (which is the core of a heterogeneous test).
