Dear Gustavo

There is a great deal you can learn from having very simply instruments like
a scale and a thermometer. The following was obtained with a scale and a
thermometer. It is a charcoal stove with a high mass (which explains the
efficiency above 200% at the end). The stove costs about $2.50 to make in
Indonesia and sells for about $5.50. A series of 7 identical pots of water
were placed on the stove one after another to establish the heat transfer
efficiency, power, efficiency change with water temperature (none), retained
heat capacity, overall efficiency and efficiency v.s. power at different
stages of the burn. It took about 90 minutes.

No gas emissions, no PM. Imagine what we could show if we had a couple of
instruments!
