[Stoves] The most efficient way to boil water

There is quite a bit of discussion about what 'efficient' means, though it
is not stated that way. Quite interesting.

 

Induction and halogen stoves get a mention. Also, the fact that if you boil
water inside a house that is being heated saves the heating fuel so it is
effectively free if the fuel is the same (gas stove for example).

 

The test runs that others performed to try to replicate results are smudged
by the fact people are crossing the boiling point. They are trying to
calculate an engineering efficiency while performing an arbitrary task,
simultaneously ignoring one of the metrics (the energy put into water that
is somewhere between 100 C water and 100 C steam). Naturally the results are
randomly affected. There is a good lesson there!
