[Stoves] Yibo Huangfu sends Beijing "Stove Expo" slideshow

Hi Ron,

I think that Chinese cooks are used to using coal in the shape of honeycomb
briquettes. They are used to top loaded stoves and no tending and maybe
little turn down. Even sticks of wood are loaded vertically in a cylinder,
maybe 18" deep or so. Adding secondary air seems to be an well known old
trick. The Chinese seem to me to have known all the tricks for a couple of
generations (or more?).

So a TLUD is similar in operation to Chinese stoves that burn coal. It's
not a new interest rather the TLUD type stove seems to be pretty old. Maybe
someone from China could share the history?

It seems to me that hundreds of Chinese manufacturers have a good
understanding of the TLUD technology with and without fans. The stoves made
for China can be heavily built and are intended for the richer Chinese
consumer, except for the millions and millions of $2-$6 coal burning TLUDs.

I think that maybe 20 or more manufacturers are working to improve their
stoves using emissions equipment and will be developing tuned TLUD, Fan,
and Natural Draft stoves that have very low emissions. The Chinese Alliance
for Clean Stoves is helping manufacturers and Dr. Liu and Dr. Dong at the
testing centers in Beijing (funded by the Global Alliance) are a big help
as well.

China is a wonderful and supportive country where innovation can become
useful quickly. The Chinese government seems to me to be extremely
efficient and supportive of green technology.
