Burning Methyl, Eethyl or Iso can be nearly invisible. EXTREME care should all ways be used.
I saw an Algae factory burn as a kid, they use a lot of alcohol. In broad day light It shimmered turned black and collapsed
with nearly no visible flames. Scary!!!!

  Dear Crispin,

It is a stove made out of stainless steel and fireproof glass to stand in the lobby of hotels etc. for both heating and display.
Some people was trying to refill with alcohol, while is was still burning, which is hard to see while it burn with an almost none visable light blue flame.

Gives very serious burns due to the sticky "fluid" flames, more or less like petrol.

  Otto

  Dear Otto

Is there an alcohol-burning device put into the fireplace? What is it they are refilling?

  Thanks
  Crispin

  Dear stovers,

  To your information:

Bioethanol, a very clean burning fuel, but due to a lot of incidents and several people burned during the refilling process, will most likely be baned to be used in open fireplaces in Norway, very soon.

Liquid fuel should be treated with care and caution in an open fire situation.

Lessons learned should be communicated to the people introducing these type of fuel and stoves for cooking in developing countries, too.

Good luck with the ETHOS conference in Seattle

  Otto
