Dear Alex

Cecil reports that the people in Central Java are doing exactly that.

They are very careful managers of the fire, by moisture and species, using
different woods and mixing them for the right effect.

I like the idea of lighting the TLUD's with damp material using dry topping.
It works with many fuels.

This answer is obvious but it is also the most common method for burning wet
wood.
Mix it with dry wood.
