Nice first test and report. 

Too bad you had to catch bus. 

This test was only with the Pili shells? Added once? No wood or briquettes? 

The too-much heat at 90 Minutes was due to added fuel? 

Way back when Dean and others were trying to get light weight bricks, there was some use of char rather than sawdust. Might be an interesting experiment to see if there is a difference. 

What cone dd you fire at? 

Getting the weight of your 11 cups of nuts and the weight of the char will be of interest. 

Any way to estimate a TDR (turn down ratio)? 

Do you think you could design something that could be taken apart - for ease of transport? 

What weight of the total package? I am worried abut the expense of getting your unit to Oregon. (as excess baggage?) 

I can volunteer to be a helper - but bet you will have many offers. 

Again - a very nice piece of art also.

Dear Ron, Erin, Dr. Paul, the Geres Team, Bastiaan and many others, 

With gladness, i would like to share with you the photos of my first test with the stove last May 14, The tests is far from complete but i am already happy to tell you that i got very clean and powerful flames. 

Attached are the photos and description. And yes, i really hope i can bring it to Oregon for tests. But would there be anybody to help me?

Be sure to let us know how the new char-making stove works out. 

If you can get it (or others) to Oregon, it/they could be fully tested this summer at the Aprovecho stove camp.

Thanks for the compliments. These stoves are my own work and i hope to inspire a lot of other artists along the way. It was also through the coaching i received from Rok Oblak and Richard Stanley of Legacy Foundation.And each time that i teach people, their artistic talents emerge. There are those in the town of Sorsogon,Camiguin and lately in Bulacan. 

And then about the char making stove, i attached a full project proposal which i am now seeking help to realize. I do not have much resources neither equipments and am working on a very tight budget. Nevertheless i really would want this project to push through with whatever i have now. In fact the stove and the char box is now drying and due for testing in the coming weeks. 
[RWL1: Your nice project report is still attached. I recommend it to most on this list. 

>From it, I now recognize your image from Phnom Penh. I don't believe we ever talked, except maybe in a side "biochar" meeting. I was the one handling the e-mail list (which I have since lost, and hope you or Paul or someone can send me). 

I liked your new char-making version with a "side pocket". But I would avoid tying it in any way to the word "TLUD". But I think a true TLUD could also be made by you and your artists. 

My wife is a potter, so I can appreciate the complexity (and beauty) of what you are doing. Any comments on lifetimes of the simpler stoves seen in the report? We need clay with zero shrinkage .] 

About bringing the stove to the USA for resale, that is a grand gesture....i will figure out something in the coming days. .... but how about me teaching people there instead? 
[RWL2: I spent a week in the Philippines about 4 years ago, and so have a little understanding of your economy. One thought I have is trying to get these stove units into any airport or big hotel souvenir shop that specializes in local crafts. 

I wish I were in a position to help you find a position outside the Philippines. Hope someone reading this can maybe help. But, for you, I presume there are some good reasons to stay in a lovely country. 

Last, we have been talking recently on this list of spherical shaped fuels. I hope you can tell us later about pyrolyzing seeds from Lychee and Rambutan fruits. The latter is now my favorite fruit (and has a great size and shape seed). Essentially unobtainable here, and when found - a horrible price. In the little town of Adam, north of you, I could pick all I wanted off numerous trees. 

I will try to add a little more on your report later - but glad to answer questions anytime.

Yours are by far the most artistic stoves I have seen. Please compliment the artists. 

This is also to ask anyone getting near Manila to bring some back for resale in the US. Or 
maybe Save The Children can help. 

I hope you and the Bulacan artists can do something similar for char-making stoves. (need a closed container with right-sized (plug-able) holes at the bottom and half-way up.) 

Lastly, your (non-artistic) box in the last photo mentions the words char and pocket. Can you explain further?

The first two stoves in the attached i already am making since the past years. And recently, i have been teaching women and soon their husbands to also make their rocket stoves here in the province of Bulacan under a disaster preparedness program by the Save the Children International. They also make their own designs of flowers, castle towers, chess characters, and faces into their stoves. 

the drawing in the third attachment is a prototype in process. It is a Holey Rocket Stove with a char pocket on the side and a box as a platform. I hope to finish it in the coming weeks.

We were talking at ETHOS about characteristics that make an improved stove, a sexy, aspirational stove, a stove that women actually want, and use and cherish, and beg to spend scarce resources to pay for. And I remember promising to ask you for a list of things that we should be thinking about when we make good stoves. So now it's several months later and I'm finally getting around to asking your for that list. :-) Is it in your presentation? I'd love to figure out some way to sort those qualities into my newer more improved way of presenting stoves. 

And question your colleague did that excellent graph of clean fuels with renewable energies (including wood) listed as superior to natural gas. Is that in the Energypedia? I have looked for it, but I have not found it.
